Chan Li


Chan Li is working towards her PhD degree in accounting. Professor Ettredge and Professor Srivastava will jointly mentor her on her dissertation work. She is working on several research projects with Professors Ettredge, Heintz, Scholz, and Srivastava. Some of her projects deal with SOX 404 reports on internal controls and some on developing risk assessment models for assurance services under the SysTrust services.

 

 

Blake Hern


Blake Hern is working towards his BS degree in accounting. He will work for Professor Alexander on a research project dealing with tax disclosures. This project will develop a tax database using FRAANK (Financial Reporting and Auditing Agent with Net Knowledge) and examine the information quality of financial statement tax footnote disclosures. In more specific terms, Blake will gather information disclosed in the tax footnotes. He will also support the tax database development by creating a text parsing taxonomy unique to tax disclosures.

 

 

Sarah Lintecum


Sarah Lintecum is working towards her MAIS degree. As an Ernst & Young Student Fellow, she will help Professor Ford with grading, research, assisting students and updating tax modules used for the ACCT 330 class.

 

 

Alice Wong
Alice is a graduate student in accounting. She will be working on a project dealing with XBRL (Extensible Business reporting Language) taxonomy. She will be matching the accounting terms with the XBRL Spec. 2.1 taxonomy to be used in building FRAANK's intelligence for tagging purposes.

 

Vandana Samala


Vandan is a graduate student in computer science at KU. She will be working on XBRL related projects. First task for her is to develop intelligence in FRAANK to understand auditor's report in 10K filings and create a database of the type of report with company's name and other relevant information. Also, she will be working on updating the FRAANK database to make it Sep. 2.1 compatible.

 

Ashwin Chimata


Ashwin will work on the research project "FRAANK." This project is being developed at the School of Business, University of Kansas, as an on-going project on "Financial Reporting and Auditing Agent with Net Knowledge." This project involves programming in Perl and SQL database languages to access financial and non-financial information through the Internet of publicly held companies from the SEC Database called 'Edgar'. He will be writing codes in Perl to parse the information on the financial statement to collect desired financial and non-financial information.
